CLASSROOM TWO

  Index  | Classrooms

Classroom Two caters for students in Years 4 - 7. Students come from primary, secondary and special schools and have a broad range of needs and abilities with the population varying from day to day. Some students are present for extended periods of time, some return intermittently and others are only there for a short duration.

The students present with a diversity of surgical, medical and psychiatric conditions including oncology, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, asthma, head injuries and orthopaedics. In addition to inpatient students from the hospitals, the classroom has day students, some of whom are admitted through the Child Youth and Mental Health Day Program as well as children from country regional areas and interstate whose parents or siblings are hospitalised.

Meeting the needs of each student requires a flexible teaching model with class, group and individual programs catering to needs and circumstances of each student. When possible links are established with the regular classroom teacher in order to support specific learning areas and to maintain some continuity of content. Students are encouraged to take their individual work folder and books with them when they return to their own school.
