The teacher in 8 East acts as the
liaison teacher within the multidisciplinary team for both these units. This
ensure the continuity of educational programs for children, communication
with parents and schools, and support and education for siblings and home
school communities.
The oncology unit runs sibling support
days on a regular basis. The sibling support groups are usually run in the school
holidays are organised to assist siblings understand and cope with issues of illness,
treatment and death.
